I have the ugly stick (8`6" )deluxe spinning rod that I use with a fixed
spool reel. Due to its ringing, eight small rings, with the 20mm butt ring around 15" from the reel I think it would would work better with a multiplier. I used one of these some time ago and as I got used to it, I really enjoyed it. I do not go in for that type of long range beachcasting these days, in fact I have got rid of my beachcaster. I am looking at one of the small baitcaster reels. Can anyone advise as to what sort of "minimum" weight it would cast. I appreciate that the heavier lure would probobly work better with this type of reel. |

I used to use an ABU 5500 and it would cast a 28 gm krill miles.
Have a look at the US sites, Cabelas and Bass Pro for an idea of what is available. The Big Man "Alex" wrote in message ... "Alex" wrote in message ... I am seriously thinking of removing the butt ring from the rod and using it with a fixed spool. The next ring although 12mm in diam is 30inches from the reel seat about average for a fixed spool setup. |
