![]() "GaryM" wrote... For being mini-clavemeister, cool brewski & snack provider. Very enjoyable time. Lots of heads up, but fussy as hell. #32 would probably have been too big. It was fun trying to match the hatch till the guy came and caught them hand over fist on a piece of yarn tied to a hook. It was a lot of fun. Fishing with George is always a good thing, and it was great to see Gary again, as well as finally meeting daytripper. The day started off with some excitement. As Gary and I had just met and were heading to the river, I hit something in the road and blew out a tire. Naturally, the spare was covered with a cooler and tons of fishing stuff, so moving all of that took more time than actually changing to the spare. We got to the fishing site just a little bit late, but found that George and 'tripper had already been fishing for about an hour. After "hellos" were exchanged I got down to the business of catching some fish, all 6-8" brookies. I had the most luck with very small sub-surface stuff, but got several hook-ups and LDRs on dries. Around 6:30 I decided my reflexes were too slow, so Gary and I headed back to the car to get some medicine (SNPA and Sam Adams) to remedy the problem. When we got to the car we saw 5 new arrivals suiting up to fish and decided to quickly down the first brew and head back to the river with the second to stake out our positions. The medicine must have worked because although my reflexes weren't any faster, I just didn't care any longer. After fishing for about 15-20 minutes, 'tripper and I sat on the bank and talked while we watched Gary try to catch the same fish he'd been trying to land all day. He finally made contact with a good size fish, but decided to perform C & R from about 15 feet. Back at the car, we ate and drank and were merry until dark. Then, as is the roffian custom, we said "**** you" to each other and called it quits for the day. If you get a chance to fish with any of these fine gentlemen, it is an experience I highly recommend. -- TL, Tim ------------------------ http://css.sbcma.com/timj |
