I have just picked up one of these reels for a good price.
I do have one question though. I would like to service it but I have a problem. I can remove the handle, tension knob and the drag star. I then loosen the 3 screws to remove the side cover. Well, the side cover comes loose but only moves about 4 millimeters away from the reel before something stops it from comming totally off. I don't want to force it, it's a great reel, but I don't want to break anything. I tried to gently twist it both clockwise and anticlockwise, but no go. I checked for any screws on the opposite side plate to see if any might be holding it on from the other side of the reel. Anyone got any experience servicing these reels? Thanks. Conlan. |

Do you have a screw in the center of the mgnetic control? If so remove
it and turn the side plate counter clock wise. |

Yup, there is a screw right in the middle of the magnetic control.
I will give it a go this week end and post wheather it worked or not. Winter is quickly giving way to spring down here so all my kit is going to be serviced and in top condition for another season of fighting them HAWG bass! Thanks for the tip! I use those reels exclusively guys, and don't think you have to remove the
screw on the magnetic control to remove the sideplate; You do have to pivit it either clockwise or cclockwise but it should pull off. Warren "AJH" wrote in message ... Do you have a screw in the center of the mgnetic control? If so remove it and turn the side plate counter clock wise. |

Hi Guys.
Success. On my model, I had to loosen the large screw in the middle of the Magforce dial, rotate the sideplate 30 degrees anticlockwise and off popped the side cover/ Under the side cover there was a screw that went right throught the line guide into the cover on the other side. What impressed me about this reel is that there was not a single plastic gear in it. It was also in good condition, but I cleaned and lubes it anyway. She is running super smooth now and cant wait to "start putting da hurt on dem bass"! Thanks. Conlan "go-bassn" wrote in message ...
