KEY LARGO - Professional backcountry guides and anglers from the Florida Keys and around the U.S.will descend on Gilbert's Resort Aug. 25-28 for an Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) sanctioned redfish tournament. The activities begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, with "Meet the Pros" at Gilbert's Resort. The first raffle begins at 6:45 p.m. and will continue every 15 minutes. There will be free lures and many other fishing goodies and a casting contest will be conducted. A 30-minute fishing seminar will be run by two IFA Pro-anglers. Attendees will also be able to purchase raffle tickets for a $1,500 Fishing Package that will be awarded following the awards on Saturday night. Also on display, will be a Trim Spa NASCAR show car and an INDY show car. Thursday night, Aug. 26, is Captain's Registration and Meeting. The registration begins at 3 p.m. and the captain's meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. This meeting is for tournament participants. Friday morning, Aug. 27, begins the Pro-Redfish Tourna-ment with launching at 6 a.m. Weigh-in begins at 3:45 p.m. and continues until 5 p.m. All fish are handled by the Audubon Aquarium of America. Saturday morning, Aug. 28, is the final day of the redfish tournament. Again launching will be at 6 a.m. with weigh-in from 3:45-5 p.m. Vendors will have many types of goods and service booths available during the day. Photo sessions and interviews will follow the final weigh-in before the awards ceremony. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn for the $1,500 Fishing Package. The winner must be present to win. The $1500 Fishing Package includes: Minn Kota trolling Motor, Maui Jim sunglasses certificate, Keelshield Certificate, Daiwa Rod & Reel, Frabill Fishing Net, Lowrance Electronics, Yamaha Life Jacket, Yamaha Oil, Trilene Line, Berkley filet knife, Berkley pocket hook sharpener, Berkley Digital Scales, Thermacell, Nemire lures, Old Bay Side lures, Rip Tide lures, Salt Water Assassin lures and a LuhrJensen compact tackle box. |
