Today I bushwacked into a high lake in the White Cloud Mountains -- one
that very, VERY few people get to because there's no trail and there's a lot of climb in elevation over horrible deadfalls. The fishing was ridiculous. I caught cutthroat up to 16" (averaging maybe 14") on nearly every cast. I must have caught 30 fish in an hour. It didn't matter what fly I used (I used purple buggers and black beetle dries). Presentation was irrelevant. The fish were literally fighting over the fly right at my feet. Since there was absolutely no skill required it soon got boring, but it was an experience. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

I haven't been bored like that in a while. One time I found a beaver pond
in it's prime on a backcountry stream.... but for me it required 3 or 4 casts to get a strike. bruce h |

The lake isn't particularly photogenic, anyway. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |
