Default is Bush anti- fly fishing?

A buddy of mine and I were talking and he was telling me Bush was more
of a " dig your own bass pond on your ranch" kind of guy, and not a
guy concerned with coldwater fisheries.

Apparently Trout Unlimited says the same thing. Also I have noticed
that Bush has had very unfriendly moves on part of the national
forests , western cutthroat and the rare bull trout.

This is pretty unsettling news, just thought I would voice my opinion.

HEY! We have enough of the regulars here stirring up this kind of
political bull****, and we're running low on soapboxes. ;-)

It does seem like the guy might be a troll but it also seems to me that
a candidate's stance on the environment, especially as it pertains to
fisheries, couldn't be more on topic for a fishing group.

So how is the mighty pirate these days? Long time no chat.

Now to Bush, TU, and cold water fisheries. TU has never seen a resource
development project they don't like! The recent plead for money
campaign states that 40% of all waterways in America don't hold fish.
40%! Do you believe these numbers? It's sensationalism at it's finest.
If people would learn to actually study the facts and quit relying on
op-ed pieces from TU or any other source, we might stand a better chance
at really understanding the issues. Bush hasn't been the best from an
environmental standpoint, but he hasn't been the worst.

To the original poster. Do your homework on this issue. I've
personally never seen so many waterways in the west in such fine shape.
Oh wait. The drought has caused problems with many rivers, but that
isn't a result of any current policies implemented by Bush. We should
be excited, as a nation, that the riverways continue to improve every
year.

Haven't heard from you either!

Bush is NOT a friend of our fisheries.

I think you're the one that needs to research Bush's and his Secretary
of the Interior, Gale Norton's record on environment protection as a
whole (ie look at their attempts to repeal and weaken the Clean
Water Act and the Clean Air Act) as well as their free market approach
to OUR National lands (ie the ONLY value our National lands have are
the money that they can generate).

Absolutely correct - he isn't. But he isn't an enemy of them, either.
Last I checked, it isn't in the job description, and the same document
provides for no right(s) as to folks being able to fish on public
waters. The fact that it is available is much like a driver's license,
a hunting license, etc. - a privilege.
