What a match-up! Two classic teams. No matter which way it went, this would
have been a great series, but these two old teams promise a wonderful
series. Wow!

Quite right. The best team doesn't always win a 7 game series,
case in point the 2004 ALCS, but that's what happens more often
than not. I'd rather have faced the Yankees because they are
the best team on the junior circuit and you can feel great
about trouncing them again. (Only the St. Louis Cardinals have
a winning record against the Yankees in the postseason.) Yes,
a matchup between the two best teams would have been my preference
but we're stuck with these hairy idiots and all the goof ball,
whack job, voodoo, loser falderol that comes with them. Blech.

No way do the Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals in a game of
baseball. I can't even imagine the Cards losing to the Sox in a
game of designated ball, but I won't predict a sweep. Here's my
prediction: Cards will split the bull**** ball in Beantown and
win all 3 of the real baseball games at Busch Stadium.

Cards in 5.

Nah, the Sox have a better record against the Yanks, and this includes
beating them during the regular season as well as the post season. The best
team DID win the ALCS, by any statistic concerning pitching, scoring,
batting, ERA or whatnot when compared head-to-head, year-long.

Talk all the trash you want: the odds makers have the Sox favored to win,
and I agree. So I'm saying that the Sox take both home games, win one of
three in St Lou, then win the whole shebang back in Fenway.

Sox in 6.

It must be hard to follow baseball from where you are, but FYI
the Yankees won the AL East with a record of 101-61 and the Sox
finished three games back at 98-64.

The Cardinals (105-57) and the Yankees are the best teams in their
respective leagues and it would have been nice to see them in the
World Series.

Head to head. Check the stats for the Yankees vs. the Sox, both during the
season and in the Postseason.

If you think the Yanks are better than the Sox, then let's let them play a
best-of 7 game series and see who wins. I'll even spot the Yankees three
games. bseg

The 162 game season is the best metric for determining the better
baseball team, the Yankees were better, three games better.
The Red Sox and Yankees have met three times in the postseason,
1999, 2003 and 2004. The Yankees have won two out of three.

The Cardinals (105-57) and the Yankees are the best teams in their
respective leagues and it would have been nice to see them in the
World Series.

Yeah, I think the Yankees are the better team and I would have
liked to see the National League's best team play the minor
league's best team in the Series but the Yankees gagged like a
Catholic schoolgirl at a screening of Deep Throat. The ALCS was
more a Yankees choke than a Red Sox win.

Now the Series is about ghosts and curses and Boston bull****
instead of baseball. Spare me. I wanted the Cards to beat the
Yankees because, well, they're the Yankees. Now all we can do
is beat the Red Sox and so ****in' what, the Red Sox have had
the snot stomped out of' em in the postseason for the last
86 years ... and counting. ;-)
