Default Good weekend

Guy in my club had a pretty good Saturday last weekend. He and a partner
are fishing the Fishers of Men trail here this year. In the second
tournament of the year at West Point Saturday, they done good. They
brought in 5 weighing 25.64 pounds. Big fish went 7 pounds. Two more
over 5 each. West Point seems hot this year - lots of 5 pound plus
fish. Chris said they caught their fish on spinnerbaits and rattletraps
in shallow water, and landed most in about 30 minutes.

The Fishers of Men trail is a Christian trail started a few years ago
and now cover 26 states, even Wisconsin! Several states have multiple
trails. A good many of the guys I know fish with their sons on this
trail - seems like a good group of folks. Their web site is
http://www.fishersofmenministries.com/

I won my club tournament Sunday at Bartlett's Ferry, the next lake below
West Point, with a limit - but it weighed only 7.88 pounds. Details later.

Ronnie,

Here is my tournament schedule http://www.chrisrennert.com/toursched.htm

I am fishing the Fishers of Men - East for Wisconsin :-). My first
tournament for FOM is 4/30 on my home water which will be way
pre-spawn.. Should be interesting :-)

Good luck in your tournament.

The fish at West Point are kinda pre-spawn, water is in low 50s. But I
caught a 7 pounder there the last day of Feb a few years ago that I am
sure was on the bed - water temps were in the low 50s but it had been
unusually warm for several days - much like this year.

I pitched a jig up by a log in about two feet of water and caught her.
Her tail was red and frayed on the bottom, and her vent was red. Fritz
hooked a 3 pounder in the exact same place on the next cast that was
much mor skinny - figured it was the male. The bottom there is gravel
and it gets full sun most of the day.
