I have spent the majority of my fishing on inland lakes. I will be fishing a
river and I have no idea where to start. I hope I can get some river help from the group. Max |

Needs some more info about the rive. I fish mainly a river system, although
I spend a lot of time in backwaters that fish like lakes depending on the time of year and the weather. Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com "The Other Huber" wrote in message ... The Saint Clair river is very plain, I have been told. There are some rip
rap, some seawalls and a lot of vacant shore line. I have never seen this river, although it is here in MI. There are deep shipping channels and some may be on the Canadian side of the river. The map I have doesn't show much. I know I need a better map. That is about all I can tell you about the river. I know there should be some Smallmouth in and some Walleye due to it running from Lake Huron to Lake St. Clair which is noted as a Walleye and smallmouth lake. Max |

After replacing a failed hard drive and service to my laptop, I am now back
in the group. I wish to thank Jerry Barton for his outstanding assistance with my request. Jerry has helped me beyond anything I could have imagined. Thank you Jerry, I truely appreciate your efforts. Max http://www.rodholster.com |

Max First you want to get out of the current. Finding protected backwater areas is key. The less areas like this you have on the river, the more the fish will pack into these areas. We have areas that when looking at a river from a map look like a small creek armm, or even a small pond coming off the main river channel. Concentrate your effort in these areas. Find areas with wood cover, and a slightly harder bottom, identical to your classic spawning areas in lakes. The darker the water, the shallower they will be. Good luck, Chris |
