anyone here use crankbaits in the prespawn on natural lakes? the water
here in michigan is mostly clear in the early spring, what would be some good colors and how do you fish them? |

Bluegill or sunfish patterns. Crank them down over a bed and pause. Or crank it down and then let it dig its way across the bed. Big fish, Pre-spawn, you really cannot go wrong with crayfish patterns. As the spawn progresses I would start throwing bluegill patterns, and then as the summer approaches shad, bluegill. Then Shad, bluegill, and crayfish through the fall. I know I have had really good success in the pre-spawn with crayfish patterns, and the smallies wouldn't touch anything else.
