Well, boys.... all good things must come to an end. I figured when I died,
I'd get my kids to just lay me in my jon boat and push me out into the
Cumberland to float off into oblivion, but fate (and wife) have decreed
otherwise. I'm putting the ODF up on the block, and I wanted to give you
first crack at her.

We get a few hundred unique visitors each month viewing the ODF project
pages on the Outdoor Frontiers site, the ROFB site, and the SWL Website, so
I know there's a lot of jon-boat customizers out there. Someone is bound to
want the old gal.

The venerable '69 25-hp, short shaft, electric-start Evinrude finally
collapsed and died last Sunday. I'd loaned the boat to our church youth
group for camp, and as it was running from the ramp to the camp dock a few
miles up Great Falls Lake (above Center Hill), it started bucking and then
lost power. The prop had spun off the shaft, and when I called U.L. LaFever
at Center Hill (near Sligo, east of Smithville) and described the symptoms,
(refusing to stay in forward gear, mainly), he told me the repair job to
change out all the gears and replace the prop would end up costing a couple
hundred dollars more than the motor was worth, even in perfect condition.
Even if I repaired the motor for $500 or so, I'd end up with an unreliable
motor.

Rather than put a couple thousand into another 25-hp motor, I decided to
free up garage space and simplify my life by finding a good home for the
ODF. (Suzi has been patient these last ten years while the ODF has occupied
her parking space in the garage, but she would sure like to be able to get
her car inside for a change.)

So... if you're interested, drop me a line. You should have my e-mail
address or figure it out from the newsgroup return address. Boat, trolling
motor, trailer are in top shape. See the project page at
