Hello to all,
Does anyone happen to know what has happened to the BassDozer site? I get an "unable to find server" error with internet explorer when trying to connect to the web site. Even though some of the links were outdated, it was still a good source of info. TIA and keep your line wet. -- Doyce |

Bassdozer came in a couple weeks ago and asked folks to test his page
because he couldn't get to it either. I went to it again yesterday and it was still down. He thought it was on his hosts end, but his host came up no problem when I went to them. Hopefully he can get it up soon. Beverly "Doyce McIlvene" wrote in message ... Hello to all, Does anyone happen to know what has happened to the BassDozer site? To me, it appears that the domain name registration expired. Once that
happens, the domain host stops broadcasting the IP address RichZ supplied as being associated with bassdozer.com. This, in turn, causes all of the core routers on the Internet to drop the route (e.g. bassdozer.com - 207.36.223.111) and people attempting to navigate to bassdozer.com will fail to get there; if you happened to know the IP address, as RichZ did in this instance, you'll still be able to get to the site. The "whois" records indicate that the domain record was updated today. I assume that the domain was reregister and the record updated. It usually takes a couple of days for core Internet routers to update their DNS at which time traffic will start routing properly again. Some may be able to find the site today while others may need to wait a few days. The IP address, however, will nearly always work in these situations. And that, in a nutshell, is a bunch of crapola you probably didn't want to know. ![]() J.P. "RichZ" wrote in message ... Sounds like you are right on the money. The only thign I might add is that
the propogation time varies drastically. I have registered new domains that seemed ot be routing correctly in less than 12 hours, and others have taken as much as four days. I have also found that it seems to be related to the registrar used. Typically my registrations through godaddy have taken longer than those through actnow. On the other hand godaddy is cheaper so I use them unless a friend or client is buggin me to get show them soemthign quickly. No I am not in the internet business. I own a communication contracting company, but I do have two paying internet website clients and lots of orgs and association that I have set up sites for. -- Public Fishing Forums Fishing Link Index www.YumaBassMan.com webmaster at YumaBsssMan dot com "J.P." wrote in message news ![]() To me, it appears that the domain name registration expired. Hi Guys,
Thanks to all that replied and a special thanks to RichZ as the URL that he provided works just fine. Hope everyone enjoys the spring season and everyone gets their line stretched! As one of the guides on lake Ray Roberts is fond of saying, "Life jackets and kill switches". -- Doyce "Bob La Londe" wrote in message ... Sounds like you are right on the money. Happens in the best of families, I assure you. Remember when we let rofb.org
lapse? Fortunately we were able to get rofb.net.... which makes more sense for bass anglers, anyway. Joe __________ "Bob Rickard" wrote in message om... Huh? snip |
