I haven't been keeping up with ROFF much lately. Have I missed anything?
Hope this finds everybody well and I trust all are getting along nicely. I got some photos and movies from my nephew of a couple of fishing days we had this summer. So I combined them with a few other photos from this summer and made a little Summer 2005 Fishing web page for any who might be interested. My web page creating abilities are very basic, sorry. The two movie files (.mov) are pretty large (around 32mb), so if you don't have broadband they are going to take a while to download. I don't know how to make them smaller without degrading the already so-so quality. Just follow this link: http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q33B4127C Enjoy, Russell |

And I feel so with it to get this first look at the latest trends in body-piercing too..... ![]() (I skipped the removal vids, though, having enough first-hand experience to last me for a while.....) Thanks for the change of pace. |

Anyone who has had a barbed hook embedded in their flesh ought to take a look at the second video. It was amazing how easily and painlessly Scott removed that fly from my face. The first video was just to show the more macho way to do it. :-) Russell |

I tend to spend some time each fishing / camping trip checking my barbs and squishing down any barbs on new hooks. Makes them very easy to remove. Cyli r.bc: vixen. Minnow goddess. Yes, but I'd suggest not counterpulling on the tippet, but instead
pressing the hookeye down against your cheek instead. Think about it: if you use the tippet to hold the fly, it sets the hook. The way I learned was to press the hook down against the cheek, basically taking the pressure off of the barb. Then pull back with the loop of thread, and the hook backs out of its own hole. http://www.ncemi.org/cse/cse1017.htm The top picture shows what I mean. --riverman |
