Default Looking to do some fishing

My wife and I have recently moved to Central Ontario - East of the
Peterborough Area.
I just joined this group and haven't really noticed any posts relating to
Canadian fishing areas, let alone Ontario.

I'm looking to do some Walleye fishing through the winter months (i.e. now)
and I haven't seen a Walleye specific NG - I was thinking this was the
closest thing.

I don't want to do any ice fishing, I'm very hesitant to walk out on an ice
covered lake.
Does anyone have any tips for finding running rivers and gaining access to
them? I'm worried that I'll find some place and end up on private property.
I'm yet to find an easy way to determine if my presence will be a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I will continue reading the group for tips on tackle to be used, although I
love to try my own stuff and laugh at myself when I fail. It's all part of
the enjoyment of fishing.
I saw a "welcome" thread to new joiners. I'm one - so thanks

Rich

There are a few Canadian fishermen here, but our must .. um... noteabel one
has not posted in a while.

This group has a pretty good group of guys, but this is a bass fishign
group. You response to that may be limited.

Knock on nearby doors and ask? That's what I did to gain access to one of
my favorite fishign ponds, and what I had to do when I used to run trap
lines. Even if they weren't the property owners the people who live there
usually know the ownereship of propoerty.

I'm worried that I'll find some place and end up on private property.

Outdoor activities may require a little research, but it is worth it and you
may make some friends with property owners in the process.

I'm yet to find an easy way to determine if my presence will be a problem.

Another thing you might consider is to ask about local regulations etc.
Does a river running through private property belong to the property owner
or the general public. Where do property rights begin and end? Find out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid I have little specific help for you living in Arizona, but
hopefully this will get oyu atarted.

Welcome again.

You might also try some of the fishing forums on some of the fishing
websites. I have one on my website, and there are three or four guys from
Canada who stop in there from time to time to post. I am sure there are
many others web forums that may have people who will be willing to offer you
a little information as well. Just do a search on Google, MSN, or Yahoo and
I'll bet you will find a bunch of them.

This is a Bass centric group. Try www.walleyecentral.com for walleye and
your area.
