Default Norman Speed Clip frustration

I have been cutting off the split ring on my crankbaits and using the
Speedclip.
Well I lost one of my favorite lipless cranks. It came unclipped during the
cast.

Anyone else have a problem with these clips?

Yep, that'll happen, especially when used frequently. The metal weakens and
loses "memory", thus not closing all the way and forming a nice tight
circle. Your lure works it's way into the gap and "zing", it's gone! That,
and I don't trust that it'd hold a big honking, hard charging fish. Not that
I have any experience with that

Yep, been there, done that and threw out every speed clip I had. Went back to
snaps.

Never used them. I'm strictly a recreational angler who has used 1/2"
duolock snaps for as long as I can remember and had very few problems. I can
think of only one fish that I lost to a malfunctioning snap and, actually,
it was more me abusing the snap rather than a malfunction.

I have never had that problem. I wonder if you have somehow overstressed
the clip when putting it on? I have landed drum to the 30lbs range on them.
Bass to 13lbs. They work for me and I have yet to see a bad one. If one
ever seems to lose it's spring, suspect a bad batch and contact the
manufacturer.
