I will interrupt political gassing for a moment, if I may, to
note that Mike Shaw and I returned, like swallows to San Juan Capistrano, to Coburn,PA last weekend. The Grannoms returned as well, providing challenging, but very good fishing, with some very nice trout taken. Gene Cyprich was nearby as well. Returning also, by Friday evening, were the predictable heavy downpours, which the area needed badly, and which I can tend to produce, magically. Fishing was thus abbreviated, but still wonderful. There are a lot of fish in there, waiting for the clave, no doubt. Tom |

Tom,
If it was you that brought the rains I must extend a thank you. Half the counties here are in or near drought conditions, in the middle of April that is not a promising sign. |

For one thing the history appeals to me. some slow-witted typeg informed me that Coburn, or thereabouts was the high waterpoint of the Confederacy. Apparently a contingent of Carolinians got lost, and went fishing for a bit. They continued on to Gettysburg to get thrashed. Or, so the story goes, as best as I remember. Tom |

I would love to fish Penns again, but I've been stung twice because of rain. I't tough to spend half a day driving only to find no fishing for a week. But, it is a fun stream to fish. |

It's a TU event of my chapter, so I'd rather limit the invite to those who I at least "know" electronically, as opposed to lurkers and other "strangers" We'd be happy to have you Dave. It's turning into an annual event, so maybe sometime down the line. -- Scott Reverse name to reply |

It was very fishable on Saturday, just that we were not up, this early in the season, for a cold, wet day outdoors. I would take Penn's over all the streams in Maine, just for the unique challenges(ok, I would take Centre County, PA over all of Maine, but I quibble). That said, any hardy soul with a pair of wet flies could have slaughtered them on Penn's Saturday, and I would bet Sunday was fine. I can't think of a stream where weather isn't sometimes a factor. So be it. Tom |
