I've been using power pro for a fair length of time. I have a lot of
trouble with it looping and resulting in a knot well into the spool. I use a spinning reel. Tried various suggested solutions all to no avail. Is there any other braided line that I could use. (other than fireline) Thanks |

I use Power Pro on all my rods, no matter what typr of reel. I put 10
lb test on my ultralight (approx same dia as 4lb mono) and 20 lb test on my medium spinning rig. I have found that most line problems on spinning reels can be attributed to lin twist. I tie the Power Pro main line to a ball bearing swivel and then tie a flourocarbon leader onto the other end of the swivel. This has greatly reduced tangeling on my spinning reels. -Zimmy |

(other than fireline) Thanks Hate to sound so "me too" here, but Power Pro is fine for spinning reels in my opinion (10 and 20lb test on various size reels). The key is to get it spooled initially with as little line twist as possible. At least, that's what I key on. Honestly, I doubt if you're having issues with twisting/looping, that any other brand would perform any better in the same situation. YMMV. |

(other than fireline) Thanks I've been using PowerPro since it became available in my area. When I have problems with the line, 95% of the time it's because it wasn't packed tight enough on the spool. When I initially spool it on, I have someone hold the spool to maintain tension and make sure the line is tight. After fishing it for a while, it will loosen up on the top layer. At that point I either tie the end to something solid and back down the driveway until I'm into the tight line. Then, with the drag cranked down tight, I wind the line back on the spool. If I'm out on the water when this happens (which isn't often), I'll tie on a big-lipped, deep diving crankbait, cast as far as I can and motor away. Again, once down into the tight line, I crank the bait back in. It doesn't happen too often, but occasionally I'll pick up a nice fish in the process! -- Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com |
