Default Fishing today

I .figured after last nights great fishing and then the huge storm that came
through that the fish might be a little tight lipped.

I woke up this morning at 5 and head out by myself, the lake was still
suffering from the storm last night and there was quite a bit of chop on the
water, it was cold and overcast. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly
surprised.

I figured with the wind and chop I was gonna fish close to shore and close
to any cover or cuts in the bank, it turned out to be a good choice,
especially the banks with wind blowing into them. About a half hour of
fishing and I was into a big fish, was taking drag and felt like a beauty,
came up shook a bit and snapped my line. The same line that I should have
retied after the pickerel last night. Oh well, live and learn. I put that
rod down and picked up my other spinning outfit, rigged an octopus hook and
a black wacko, wacky rigged and didn't have to change outfits or lures for
the rest of the trip. I wound up catching 3 real quick on the blk wackos, 2
that were a pound and a half at best and 1 slightly bigger than 2lbs. At
this point another boat was launching, not familiar with either angler, I
chalked it up to vacationers. They then trolled about 200 feet ahead of me
up the bank, Kinda ****ed me off as I was working my way down. I look over
at them and they wave, I keep fishing the wacko as both were chucking
spinnerbaits at a rather fast clip, as I get closer my line jumps and I set
the hook on a nice lm, wound up at about 2 lbs. A few feet up I grab another
fish this time just a dink, but enough of a fish to get a second look from
my lake compadres with the spinnerbaits. I decide then that black wackos are
good. One guy on the other boat switches to a texas rigged worm,,,in black.,
at least that's what it looked like.

I decided that I was going to get out of the wind and head back into a
cove that is blocked from the wind, As I turn the corner into the back of
the cove guess who is following behind,, you guessed it my lake compadres,
the whole lake to fish and they want to tag along with me. Now they are back
to spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, I decide to Texas rig as the sticks would
just snag me up good with the wacky rig, they head around one way I head
around the other. That was the last I really saw of them as they fished the
opposite bank. I wound up catching 9 more bass by 10 a.m Again nothing huge
but 3 were a good solid three pounds, One of them had a 7 inch cutail worm
stuffed down it's mouth, looks like it was there for a little bit as it was
all swollen and beat up, so what I thought was going to be a slow day wound
up being pretty good.
