Soft Jerk baits
What hook do you normally use for soft thick bodied jerk baits like Bass

Soft Jerk baits
Bass assassins are my favorite soft jerkbait, I fish them on a 6 6 med
heavy rod with 30lb stren braid on my scorpion, I use almost exclusively 4/0 red gammy wide gaps, If I start getting short strikes where they are folloowing and just nipping I switch to a 5/0 offset lunker city hook. The red hooks combined with the baby bass colored assassins has been a consistent producer for me and has been responsible for most of the bigger fish I have caught in the past year or two. I use 5/0 wide gap hooks & usually throw 5" assasins on 8 or 10 lb mono.
If I'm in lillies I use s-wire

The assassins are heavier, and that baby bass color is unlike anything else
out there, it just screams I'm dying and helpless, eat me!!! I think the heavy bait also cause a bit more of a disturbance whne fished fast across the top "Marty" wrote in message ...
