Consider this post the official announcement of the Ohio - Massachusetts
Bi-State mini-micro-tiny-one-day-maybe-two Clave starting (and possibly ending) on Thursday June 22. Right now it's just Bill Claspy and me hoping the water goes down between now and then so we can flail at the trout along the "secret spot", but everyone reading this (you know who you are) is welcomed (no, URGED) to join us for some now infamous Eastern camaraderie. We hope to get started in the early afternoon and fish until the sun goes down. Anyone interested let me know. Other states can participate, but it could make the acronym for the clave rather unwieldy. ![]() -- TL, Tim ------------------------- http://css.sbcma.com/timj |

I just found out today that I'll be busy during the daytime, but on the Swift in fact. We'll be up at the 'stone rubble pile' turning it into less pile and more 'structure' with a crane. I'm on documentary detail with Steve but will probably be working crowd control at some point. You and book-boy should come over to Enoch Sanford Road near rhe duck lady's place and look for me before you get all committed. When the crane breaks for the day (or if he cancels again due to mud) I'll be free to hobnob. -- Stan Gula http://gula.org/roffswaps |

That's hex time in Michigan. Y'all come there and it can be the MI-OH-MAI miniclave. Joel and I got a rather late start on our trek to north-central Curdistan on Friday. As we approached Weyauwega on U.S. 10, long about 9:00 p.m., I was regaling him (for probably the tenth time) with the tale of the time....."just about this time of year, and just about this time of day".....when I ran into the Hex hatch, with a vengeance, at sixty miles per hour. I timed the story (as I always do) so that I could say "...ran into the Hex hatch right about .......HERE!" as we got to the bottom of the hill. Either my memory is faulty or the bugs have changed their habits. It wasn't till about five seconds later we ran into the Hex hatch, with a vengeance, at sixty miles per hour. It was a lighter hatch, though; we didn't have to stop to clean the windshield. Nevertheless, the hatch is ON! 45 minutes later we stopped to fuel up in Stevens Point despite having enough gas to make it to Merrill. I knew that the Plover river has a terrific hatch and that the bright lights at the gas stations and other establishments at the freeway interchange attract them in profusion. We were not disappointed. Numerous bugs littered the pavement and flew around us. Other patrons rolled up their windows and locked their doors after seeing me flit about, grabbing bugs and photographing them. They looked apprehensive. There were also many other genera and species of trout food on the wing and settling on every available surface. Entomologists should spend more time at gas stations. ![]() Wolfgang who knows that hexagenia limbata are actually smallish bats. |
