My son is not big on flyfishing. Does anyone here fish Yellowstone with spinning gear? If so, what do you use and where do you like to fish? Michael Michael, Try Panther Martin spinners in 1/64, 1/32, 1/16, and 1/8 depending on the speed of the water. I found a yellow body with black or gold blade works great. I really like the yellow body with red spots. A tiny bit of red yarn on the hook works too. I found that if there are lots of small trout being caught it helps to cut off one or two of the trebles so there is only a single or double to get loose. Might want to flatten the barb also. Lift your rod tip to clear the lure from the water with 6' or so of line out to help with line twist or use the smallest ball bearing swivel you can find. I know Brookies and Browns in WI streams love Panter Martins. Do they allow spinning gear on the Yellowstone Trout waters? |
