I stopped answering as well. Although not before getting to chat with Dennis Kucinich. That was fun- almost as much fun as getting to vote for him! :-) Bill |

Two of the automateds gave callback numbers, so I did and told them to put me on their do not call lists. The Bill Clinton automated call, which didn't give one was short, at least. The one I appreciated least was from the Paul Wellstone group. Hello, guys, he's DEAD. And always thought he was kind of dopey even before one of his aides used his funeral for a political speech. After that, I assumed he had all around bad judgment and kept squirrels on his staff instead of in his attic. -- r.bc: vixen Speaker to squirrels, willow watcher, etc.. Often taunted by trout. I don't know how you managed that. The last week I got at least 3 calls per day. One was even a non-automated call from the actual candidate asking for me by name. SWMBO got it out of him that I was being called because of demographic information combined with my "not affiliated with any party" registration. If that's why I'm being called so much I may have to change that..... - Ken |

She had all these great "news bites" that she was gonna do, i.e. drop taxes, make it a "destination city." Well, she had nothing to back it up. She lost. Frank Reid |

I suspect the local bible thumpers put me on their "Do Not Knock" list for similar reasons. I see them walking through the neighborhood still, but they always seem to skip my house. They apparently don't like it when you ask *them* in-depth questions. You'd think since they've got all the answers...... - Ken |

I'm wondering if it could be because of the year I told all of them that I vote straight Grass Roots tickets? Not true, but they're pols, so I didn't feel bad about lying for maybe the 30th time in my life to them. Or maybe it's that our district and precinct weren't in much doubt? Or because of the email I wrote to the Pawlenty campaign's web master saying that if they didn't fix their unsubscribe web page to make it work, I'd not only vote for the opposition but go out and actively work against the turkey who kept sending me SPAM? I don't know if they made the unsub page work, but I didn't get any more email SPAM from Pawlenty. Who I happen to think is a jerk, but he won anyway. Bah. I know I didn't get any more Baptists (or other religions) at the old place after some came along and asked me if I'd been saved. I reared back a bit and told them that that was between me and God and I figured the choice was totally up to God. Hadn't realized I even had such a thought in my head. The younger of the pair tried to keep at me, but I was glaring by then and the older guy led him gently away. Very strange, as I waver between lapsed Christianity, general agnosticism, New Age oddity, and primitive animism when I get religious impulses. When I die, I"m basically going to be very surprized if anything further happens to me.
