Default New Zealand, Argentina, Chili or the tropics?

You don't have to shovel snow this winter.

You can take some pretty inexpensive do-it -yourself trips to places that
are in their summer now.

We have some friends who go down to New Zealand every winter and tour around
on their own for a month or more. They rent a car for a month and stay in
affordable cottages. It's no more expensive than fishing on your own in
Montana.

You can do this in Argentina as well.

You could go down to Belize and stay out on Cay Caulker which is affordable.

There are good deals in the Bahamas too.

Florida is nice this time of year too.

My guess is that NZ is quite a bit cheaper than Montana, airfare excluded.
Roger and I rented a car for US$150 for a week, and another US$150 for a
week at a cottage on a trout stream, 2 BR, 1bath, full kitchen facilities.

My friends who go every year for a month say it is cheaper than fishing in
Montana except for the airfare.

The hidden expense to New Zealand is all those meat pies.
After you get home you have to buy all new clothes.

NZ can be cheap, can be expensive. Your first time over would be a good
time to spend a bit so you learn alot fast. If you're not very skilled
and care about actually catching fish, perhaps Alaska is a better
choice for a while. I haven't done Argentina or Chile and maybe next
year if I can't deal with the long flight I'll try it. Personally there
is alot to be said for English speaking countries when you're moving
about.
