Bass will eat just about anything they can fit in their mouth, I remember
Dave hitting a 5+ bass that had the remains of a huge catfish hanging out of
it's mouth, we were both stunned that the fish would have went after the
buzzbait the way it did considering the mouthful it already had

I flipped a 4.5 in the river that had a catfish stuck in its throat. The
side barbs kept it from going all the way down, but the body was almost
completely digested when I pulled it out. It was a pretty skinny fish. If
it had been normal weight it might have been a new personal best record for
me.

Little late on the reply I am, but, I think the strangest "Bass thing" I've
seen, was two 8 inch Bass, and one was eating the other. Looked like a fish
with 2 tails. They were definitely stuck, so I snagged them with a Mepps,
(shore fishing), and pulled the one out of the others mouth! A Bass eating
a gator, never seen anything like that! Just goes to show how veracious
they are! Wow!

So was Dave getting short strikes for the 1st few casts? lol Would be
like, "Holy SH**, he just can't get his lips on it!" That would be
something to see!
