Well, you gotta at least give the Patriots props for providing two of the most
entertaining games of the whole season - back to back on prime time teevee - which historically has been the province of outright yawn-fests. Golf claps to the Ravens for putting points on the board, but it took a severe case of the dropsies - coupled with one of the worst offensive coaching jobs I've seen in a few years - to get the Pats into that last drive predicament. If I was Belichick I'd fire McDaniels first thing tomorrow. TERRIBLE play calling throughout the second half - one deep middle pass play after another, in spite of the gales spiraling around the stadium, and a straight-up-the-middle defensive rush on every play. Why they didn't go back to the short out passes that worked so well when they used them, I'll never know. It almost left them hanging out to dry. Ever seen a kickoff from the receiving team's 35 yard line before? And that's another point: why not go for the on-side kick there, instead of kicking it out of the stadium? A run-back is highly unlikely when a blocking forward is trying to recover the ball, at worst the ball ends up on the 25 yard line instead of the 20, at best the Pats get the ball and the game right then and there... And has there ever been a more obnoxious announcing crew in the history of televised sports? I wanna kill that Cornholio - but slowly, and with plenty of commercials! Oh well. Bring on Pittsburg! /daytripper (what does a stroke actually feel like? blinkblinktwitch ;-) |

TERRIBLE play calling throughout the second half - Makes me wonder what you thought of Josh before the last two games when they were blowing teams out by +37. The Ravens should be thanking Jim Johnson for his blueprints. But I've got to hand it to Rex Ryan's D, and the Lewis Hype. The look on Ray's face after they snuffed Brady on 4th &1 on a senseless T-Out call...priceless. The Shula-factor...powerful stuff. -tom |
