If I was Belichick I'd fire McDaniels first thing tomorrow. TERRIBLE play
calling throughout the second half -

Makes me wonder what you thought of Josh before the last two games when
they were blowing teams out by +37.
The Ravens should be thanking Jim Johnson for his blueprints.
But I've got to hand it to Rex Ryan's D, and the Lewis Hype. The look on
Ray's face after they snuffed Brady on 4th &1 on a senseless T-Out
call...priceless.
The Shula-factor...powerful stuff.

I'll add...wouldn't that be something if Miami loses the next two and the
Pats keep rolling for their showdown on Dec. 23, in Foxborough.
Tell ol Donnie to keep that Champagne on ice.

I wasn't a fan of McDaniels last season, wasn't a fan of McDaniels in the
first half of this season, and I'm *really not* a fan of McDaniels in the
second half of this season. I've been missing Charlie Weis more and more...

Shula is a dumbass with a big mouth, trying to amplify his legacy. He keeps
showing up at Pats games and making an obnoxious nitwit of himself - which,
considering the ESPN and NFLN gangs of morons, is an easy fit.

What do you think the spread is gonna be for that game - after Miami got
totally croaked by the freakin' J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS this week? ;-)

Shula ought to sell the champers now and avoid the price plunge...

The potential beauty of the 12/23 game is that should both teams
maintain their streaks until then, the Pats have a chance to go 15-0
by pushing the the last 14-0 team to 0-15.

The fish could have a tough time keeping the streak alive against the
Ravens, though.

I'm sure he's pround of the "Perfect Season Record:" wouldn't anybody?

I hope it's +45 and the Dolphins spoil the show.

No, I'm not kidding. Weis was an excellent offensive coordinator who made
uncanny mid-game adjustments when the going called for it - something
McDaniels hasn't learned how to do yet. I rarely disagreed with CW's play
calling, and the Pats won three superbowls with him calling the shots with *a
lot less player talent* than they had this year...

I guess those uncanny calls didn't work for Notre Dame at least this year.
When the Irish were 1-7, they were ranked 119th in rushing offense, 112th
in passing, and 118th in scoring out of the 119 teams in Division 1-A. Yup
signs of an excellent offensive coordinator or was Brady Quinn that good
those previous years?

You're talking about the Erhardt/Perkins offensive system, which is the same
offense the Pats use today...nothing really new. What changes are they
calling in offensive plays from the those Super Bowl years? The only
difference I see is the acquisition of Moss, who made a huge difference in
opening up the offense.
As Brady says: "My job is easy, I just throw it up there and Randy makes the
play. " Sure makes the Raiders look bad.

actually, living proof that college football and the coaching thereof, is
completely different from pro football. Charlie is teaching kids now, not
working with experienced professionals. His team now has 60 guys who have to
go to school, and Notre Dame actually makes them take real courses(compared
to most). His Pats teams could devote 60 hours a week to game planning, if
need be.

So being the offensive coordinator for three superbowls means nothing to you?
Doesn't buy him any credibility with you? My, my, my....and tsk tsk.

There's a world of difference between the offensive coordinator of a pro ball
team that you helped recruit, and being head coach of a college team full of
someone else's recruiting efforts. It would be more rational to expect he
doesn't get to devote his every waking moment to offensive planning now,
considering all of the other responsibilities on his plate. Or maybe you don't
realize the scope of his job?

You're talking about the Erhardt/Perkins offensive system, which is the same

Yikes! Is that really all you can see from where you are? Try squinting ;-)
I'm sure all the other new players you missed are heart broken, but they've
gotten along pretty well anyway. And I disagree with your assessment of the
"system" in use this season, it's about night-and-day different from last year
- pretty much due to all those players you missed, along with Moss.

As Brady says: "My job is easy, I just throw it up there and Randy makes the
play. " Sure makes the Raiders look bad.
-tom

Well, the Raiders are still bad, so I guess that theory doesn't work too well.
And while the quote is correct, it would be unbelievably simplistic to believe
that describes the system or the season...But you'd have to actually have
watched all of the games for the last many years to know that...

/daytripper
(Maybe we can buy CW out of that contract extension and set ND free? ;-)
