His three most memorable performances for me were Will Penny,
Ben Hur of course, and the most memorable of all, his poignant
and heartfelt farewell. Whether you agree or disagree with his
personal views the man was a class act.

Having grown up after his Ben Hur days, I only knew him as the NRA guy
who hated monkeys. Now that I see his obituaries, I find he marched
with MLK when it wasn't a very popular thing for Hollwood to do. Class
act indeed.

Never cared much for Heston as an actor, and his politics were repugnant to
me. On the other hand, he was by all accounts a man of irreproachable
personal integrity.

I think he wouldn't have cared much for this place.

I understood that he really didn't have much "politics" UNTIL the NRA
approached him and that he so missed his Hollywood heydays and craved
the attention they showered on him, that once the ball got rolling the
thesbian in him took over and the rest is history. But he is gone and
either got away scott free with his nonsense, or has only god to
answer to if one believes in that stuff. He was a decent actor.

Charlton Heston was an actress ?!!?

Oh my, she was *good*. ;-)

I ment thesbian, not lesbian. You know, like calling a non-Actors
Equity actor an undocumented thesbian, is like calling a French Fry a
"Chip." Right?
