And it's just the kind of excuse the ISPs would love to use to cut their costs - and without lowering subscriber fees (just like CommieCast claims Usenet is a "free" service - which is one service that is ripe for the picking). Probably a good idea to check out the independent news providers just in case. I've had good luck with www.motzarella.org wrt content and retention of discussion groups. Folks that are into binaries wouldn't be happy with it, tho... |

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-9964895-38.html It's all lies. Just like the "we need those illegal aliens to do the work Americans don't want to do" lie politicians have be parroting for years. The major ISPs want to kill usenet because it's pure overhead with no chance of revenue. Getting the AG to play sock puppet is just a formality with built-in PR bennies. nb |

Aside from the expectation that they might remove "illegal content" if _anyone_ alerted them to it, one is left to wonder how much more porn, kiddie or otherwise, is on the 'net versus USENET. Between the content alert-and-remove scheme and canceling USENET, it appears Time Warner Cable will stamp out something...sometime after Hillary and Teddy win Prez-Veep of the US...while running as Republicans...with campaign material printed solely in Spanish.... while promising to triple taxes on those making under 100K...and repeal Roe v Wade... and calling for the banning not only hunting guns, but hunting licenses as well...and kicking off their campaign by converting to Islam and then apostating.... And while I can't say for certain as I've never looked for kiddie porn on USENET or anywhere else, have no intention of doing so, and do not claim knowledge of it or its POS fans, I'd wonder how non-binary groups are sources of porn, kiddie or otherwise...and on top of that, I'd offer that few would attempt to get illegal-to-possess material from the apparent 88 known kiddie porn binary groups via Time Warner because logging on to the news server would create a "paper trail" - probably a similar number of folks attempt to buy kiddie porn at police stations each year... Frankly, I blame Al Gore...if he hadn't invented the Internet, "illegal content" wouldn't exist... Sheesh, R |

Now none of us will know it's you. Do you really study my posts? Yes. It's a psychology experiment to see if I can decipher them without going insane. What will you do with your acronym list and your web site if ROFF goes Probably not much that I don't do now. Since both are web-based, I don't think ROFF has much to do with whether or not they're maintained on an ongoing basis. .. . . or is there something else you're trying to say? To tell the truth, neither may be available for too much longer - at least at css.sbcma.com. Our small company was just bought by a very large company, and they typically lock up Internet resources a lot tighter that I've done in the past. So look while you can, Fred. Browse fast and often. -- TL, Tim ------------------------- http://css.sbcma.com/timj |
