Hundreds and hundreds of bees arrived today, apparently out of thin air, to
buzz about a tree in our yard that is budding out. .... minor miracle of Nature,..... if any such miracle qualifies as minor I wish the Groundhog that saw it's shadow yesterday was more likely to be right, California needs more Winter, lots more Winter, not a very early Spring. |

Well, you(?) need more snow. January is the big month for accumulation. My one buddy sent me the snow pack monitoring sites, the one we're following is at 60% normal. For *our* selfish needs (the window between snow melt and when levels are too low), it's not going to matter too much, but it seems like only the right thing to do to learn about what's happening in the area where you're going to be waltzing matilda come summer. These are the official snow collector/counter folks: http://cdec.water.ca.gov/snow/current/snow/ |

We're running about 55% ;-( ( source, TV weather dude last night 6 o'clock news ) I've already officially been told to expect drastic cuts in irrigation water ( not likely a big deal, to me, just a few less Angus around ). I was talking to the rice farmer 'next door' and he's not going to plant, first time ever for him, mainly because water to stay flooded all growing season isn't guaranteed. Overall, California agriculture is probably going to take a hit that will affect food costs nationwide .... barring big turn arounds in the situation ( with less than two months of 'wet season' left ) Larry L ( not to be all bad news, all the time, it's supposed to rain Thur and Fri and patterns could still change ..... ) |

Joe F. Agreed ... pretty weird and scary stuff I doubt that the bees on my trees right now are from commerical colonies, as I haven't noticed any boxes in the area yet this year .... I could be wrong. |
