FIshed above the highway 70 bridge, landed a 25 inch female, had 2 break
off 8 pound tippet, and an additional 2 ldr.

To Bill Kiene: I seem to remember you saying how you like catching
females because they fight better. The females I have caught SUCK!
Especially the one today. Catching a female is like catching a salmon
in the feather in november or december. They are logs and they are
nasty looking.

Probably was a molly or a down streamer, it been my experience, like
Bill, that hens are much better fighters...before they spawn.

Hi Steve,

The female steelhead I was talking about are the wild chrome ones on the
north coast rivers, not the valley river hatchery fish trying to spawn now.

We do get some hot fish in the valley rivers but the majority are not much
different than catching smaller salmon.
