I'm considering buying a Cabela's Prestige Reel and fly line, but was
curious as to other's experiences with this produce line. I like the company and have had good success with their stuff, but haven't used their reels. Any comments? Thanks. KD |

I prefer the Orvis Rocky Mountain cassette reel. The Cabela's cheap lines I've had were pretty good bang for the buck. They floated better than the cheap Dorber lines I had. But, they were short. You could cast the whole line and ended up handling the backing quite a bit. You're not the Kevin Davis from Billings are you? I'm leaning towards the higher end cabela's ones, not sure who's making those for them. No, not billings, but Bozeman. KD |

![]() i purchased cabela's prestige plus line, a wf5f, at 85 feet i think. works great for me. i imagine i'm losing a bit when compared to a scientifc anglers ast trout line, but that's ok for me right now. completely ridiculous i know, but at the time, late last year, it had two of the most important factors for me. 1) relatively inexpensive and 2) came in that cool flourescent green color. and then there was always the off-hand chance it was made of or came from similar stock as some of the higher priced lines... those lower end lines from cabelas must be REALLY short. no way would i normally cast 85 feet... ;-) eric fresno, ca. If I were you, I'd run on down to Fins and Feathers on 19th and check out the Orvis Bar Stock reel before buying a "higher end" Cabela's. Damn good reel for the money and you'll be able to see it in person. Thanks, good advice, and I'll definitely do that, see what's available. Need some waders and boot replacement anyway, so we'll see if we can support the local economy. Thanks a lot, KD |

I have one and no problem with it. I have the prestifge plus line on it .
Since the purpose of the reel is to hold the line I just cant bring myself to spend big bucks on a high dollar reel . Being the tight a** I am I keep hoping for a garage sale find. I fish mostly for gill and bass "Kevin Davis" wrote in message om... I'm considering buying a Cabela's Prestige Reel and fly line, but was curious as to other's experiences with this produce line.
