Default Vancouver trip

Hi I,m heading to Vancouver the second week in Sept can anyone tell me if
there will be any salmon fishing at that time of year if not what other
kinds of fishing can I expect to find . I would be very grateful for any
help or advice.
Yours Sincerely

You're talking Vancouver, BC, aren't you? Should be Silver Salmon
(Coho) available, too late for Chinook (King). Maybe Pinks (Humpys),
but might be too late for them as well. I don't recall any steelhead
runs until late fall/winter.

I'm sure others can tell you more....

Good luck!

Default Vancouver trip

for Vancouver Canada

the middle of Sept is an in between time. The summer runs of salmon are
definitely over but the fall season is just getting underway. In Vancouver
there is good fishing available right in the harbour - from the beach around
ambleside at the mouth of the Capilano river if you want to toss a fly. The
Chilliwack river will have it's first runs of coho and providing the weather
is normal or even cooler than normal the trout fishing in the Harrison River
should be approaching it's best. There is also the Skagit river south of
Hope with freestone fishing for rainbows and it's a good time of year - the
local green drakes usually hatch then. Some years if the run is strong
enough the Coquihalla River in the same area is opened for summer run
steelhead - they take wets in standard Atlantic salmon presentations well or
even dries - but that usually isn't announced until after the fish acounts
are made in late August Sept. In the interior - trips to good still water
fishing can be made you'd need 2 or 3 days and the Thompson River has good
trout fishing from Savona to Martel until Sept 30th , the entire river
closes October 1st.
