Is this right? Or does it erode the foundations of all that fishing
is meant to be? What I need to know is, would Tony Germuga use it?

begin quote

Cricket Gun
US Patent 5,103,585* / Issued 1992

Have you ever gone fishing using crickets as bait? Does it bug you
when you open the bait bucket and all of the crickets take this
opportune moment to flee for their lives? This bait bucket thing is a
two handed operation and you know what that means, you may have to set
your beer down for a moment, causing you to lose concentration. Well
we have the solution for all of your fishin' and cricket needs, the
Cricket Gun!

To use; just load the gun with a multitude of frisky crickets and when
you are ready to feed the fish, pull the trigger and snatch the little
fella as he flies by. He'll be so bewildered by his blast from the
past that he may not resist having you get your hooks in him. We do
suggest one note of caution; fat crickets make a messy gun jam.

end quote

well, since live bait in fresh water is evil and wrong, i would say that
the cricket gun, though entertaining, is evil and wrong.

All fish are dumb. They're fish!

Besides, when I fish, I just end up feeding 'em anyway instead of the
other way around.

I like mine in bready crumby-covered sticks, arranged in a circle on
the cookie sheet bathed in the dull red glow of the oven element,
their golden husks contrasting with the future-is-now sheen of the
aluminum foil as I ponder wonderously to myself, "Mercury my ass, this
