What do you do? We have a system of backwater lakes and the main river.
Deep water in the lakes might be 8-12 feet with a few areas going a littel deeper. Ther are grass beds everywhere with some areas they are just scattered. Last time I went out surface temp was around 90 almost everywhere. -- ** FREE Fishing Lures ** Weekly drawing ** Public Fishing and Boating Forums ** www.YumaBassMan.com |

Go as deep & as slow as you can with finesse sized baits Bob - these fish
are gonna get as far away from that hot surface water as they can & their metabolism is gonna be almost shut-down. I may be jealous of your January fish tales but surely not now. Water temps here are hovering in the mid 70's... Warren -- http://www.warrenwolk.com/ http://www.tri-statebassmasters.com 2004 NJ B.A.S.S. I bet it's a lot cooler under the matted vegetation. Hottest Indiana days
of the year you can still pick them up working a frog across matted vegetation in the still water, near high noon. Check these pics out from a recent trip where I did just that: The spot - http://rofb.net/gallery//displayimage.php?pos=-30 The 3lb fish - http://rofb.net/gallery//displayimage.php?pos=-31 Good luck! -- Andrew Kidd http://www.amiasoft.com/ - Software for the rest of us! http://www.rofb.net/ - ROFB Newsgroup Home "Bob La Londe" wrote in message ... ![]() Three things I would try, One a buzz bait over those grass beds, I don't care how hot it gets, The fish might not have a high metabolism like Warren stated but that annoying buzz might just make the bigger bass attack it.. I would also rig up a 1/32oz bullet weight with a baby brush hog and bounce the bottom in the deeper area's you mentioned, and pop it into those grass beds, and work it through with a lift and pause action. Use Red Hooks!!!! "Bob La Londe" wrote in message ... What do you do? We have a system of backwater lakes and the main river.
