Default Flyfishing near Graeagle CA

I'll be headed to the Graeagle area where I'll be staying for about a month.
I expect snow, ice and cold weather...but am in hopes that I can find some
fly fishing in that area. From what I've been told, I should leave my fly
rod home. What's sad is that I live on the banks of the Smith River in
northern CA and the steelhead are running right now. I can literally walk
to the river from my back yard. Why am I leaving? If I had a choice, I'd
stay and fish here but....
Is anyone familiar with the Graeagle area?

Barry

Not at this time of year, sorry, no.

But, at warmer times it has lots of good fly fishing near by. I'd guess
the Feather river in town is closed for the season, even if it is fishable,
the locals will know, of course.

The 'high lakes' will all be solid, and I believe Davis is frozen over, but
Frenchman might be fishable

is the best online source of California fishing info that I have found, ask
there

....and Pyramid Lake isn't all that far from Graegle. It should be
fishing well right now.
