Default tying up

I'd like to echo Bill's sentiments, Riverman.
The GRHE (and its NZ cousin Hare and Copper) fished in a variety of
sizes and weights is a very good
allrounder. I find it particularly effective fished just sub-surface
in a hatch of smaller duns.

I had similar problems with the EHC: couldn't buy a fish on it till I
realised the buggers were
hell bent on emergers and you have to see the snouts (on the adults)
before the floating EHC is
effective in a hatch (and it doens't have to be caddis). Outside of
hatch times EHC are a pretty good general fly to put over a sighted
fish.

I'd keep trying the GRHE, the pennys will drop.

Steve (assuming you're chasing the trout of course and not some
congolese fanged fury :-)
