Hi
I am from France but have lived in the states for 13 years. I am getting back into fishing but am in need of buying gear. I want to focus on float fishing with a float rod in a local lake which holds catfish, carps, sunfish, crappies and other local american fish.(Not after the big carps and catfish at this time just the small ones). I have the 3 piece rod, floats, soft round leds(Don't know how you call these in the UK.). I am going to need hooks and lines, chum and a couple of others small items. Is there a mail order in the states that carries that stuff? Or do I have to buy directly from the UK or France? This type of fishing is not known here very well in the states and carps are unwanted and called trash fish and local tackle stores recommend a bow and arrow for carps!!! Thanks in advance Patrick |

Small items - fine, mail order makes sense - someone will be along to suggest a shop or two rsn... Chum (groundbait) is going to be expensive to send by mail, especially if it must come from europe. Instead make your own from dried bread, maize meal (coarse meal or 'grits' not cornflour) and perhaps a little bran. You might even do well just by throwing in mud or stirring up the bottom silt. This type of fishing is not known here very well in the states and carps are unwanted and called trash fish and local tackle stores recommend a bow and arrow for carps!!! They are probably right to do so. Carp are a huge problem in many places where they have been introduced and are taking over from the indigenous species. You may be legally obliged to kill all you catch. Cheerio, -- |
