I'll be in Cabo San Lucas April 17-24, can anyone recommend a fishing
charter, This will be my first time for Marlin, Tuna etc. I understand the fishing is better in August thru November but this is the only time I can go so I'll take my chances. What should I bring?, What should I look out for?, any and all help is appreciated. Thanks, R.D. |

I understand your concerns completely. When I made my first trip to Los
Cabos in 1998 I had no knowledge of the area or reputable charters in the area. I spent most of week talking to the street hawkers that are on just about every corner. Finally I walked into the office of Pisces Sport fishing and have been with them since. I recommend Pisces to anyone that fishes Los Cabos. You can reserve a spot via their website and even ask to share a boat. You can reserve all inclusive where lunch and drinks are provided or just bare boat. Submit your questions via Internet, Tracy the office manager is usually pretty quick to respond. If you have special needs, discuss those with either Dock Master, Mario or Oscar. Read the weekly fishing reports at their website. Here is the web site http://www.piscessportfishing.com/ Interested in Fly Fishing at all? Talk to Grant Hartman at Baja Anglers, whose office is right next door to Pisces. http://www.baja-anglers.com You can also talk to Minerva, propieter of Minerva's Baja Tackle. She has boats but I've not fished with her, however I have purchased tackle. She's always happy to provide info. http://www.minervas.com Good Luck com.yahoo@orgullodemexico (reverse the above for true mailbox) |

RD,
Chances on a striped marlin right now are pretty good, along with dorado and yellowfin tuna. Fishing is better after July because you have more variety and water temps are up. What to bring? Most boats furnish everything you need in the form of tackle, coolers, and artificial bait. What to look for?? Check out the condition of the boat, safety equipment, and the tackle before you rent. Lots of guys walking the streets with pictures of boats looking for a deposit. Some are legit but others are not. DON'T rent a boat sight unseen! Ask to meet the crew, see the boat and gear. Legit guys will not have a problem with this. Enjoy your trip. M.H.
