You'll really love that reel as I used mine all last year. Its A great reel,
I buy another but 1 at that price is enough ![]() -- Chris S Replace com with net to email "Steve" wrote in message ... I just couldn't resist. I'm a gadget guy and love fishing, it just had to be. 5 bills is a lot of money, so I committed myself to finding a beter deal. Everyone was $499 on the net, looked for a coupon -- no go. However, with a little hesitation I bought one on eBay for $385! Got it 2 day later and went fishing that day. Loaded it withe PowerPro 30 (I think), Well, it casts like everyone says - unbelievable... In fact, I have a problem, I need to teach this old dog a new trick -- cast half as hard... It ain't hype, this thing is the "reel" deal. Beyond electronic braking and high RPM spool spinning, this is the best reel I've owned. My go to reel was a centrificula brake Shimano Calcutta -- an excellent tool. This reel takes it a step further. Both the drag and the a the friction adjustment for the spool have fine click adjustments. The reel is a smooth as silk, the drag is just as smooth. I'm happy to spend 4 bills on this fine tool and look forward to exploiting it's capabilities. |

First, you will suddenly have anxiety about a high dollar reel not being mated to a comparatively expensive rod. Be patient you will get past that; I did (at least for now). Second, don't be surprised if the braided line wraps up backwards on a hard cast. Just keep reminding yourself of your own words- "cast half as hard". Oh, did you buy used or new? Individual or retailer/wholesaler? I just got my fed tax refund and I am very much tempted to buy another. -- Da Chief, All outgoing mailed scanned by Symantec Anti-virus |

Hi,
I bought mine on eBay last summer for $450 new. It's the enhanced model from Japan. I'm using 6/30 power pro on it. I was in WalMart yesterday to get me license and noticed that they are carrying Power Pro now. I'm using a 7' one piece G-Loomis IMX with this reel and absolutely love it. Caught my first bass (7 actually) of the year last Saturday in a private farm pond. It was kind of funny, the other two guys I was with couldn't believe how far I was casting :-) Unfortunately, one of them caught the 4.5 pounder. My biggest was about 1.7 pounds. Just goes to show you that there's more to catching fish than how far you can cast. But still....it helps. One more thing. I was looking at rod protectors for this rod and another (Shamano Stella on a 6.5' G-Loomis). I ended up just going to Lowes and getting the foam covering that goes over hot water pipes to keep the heat in. Cost was about $1.25 each and it works wonderfully. My rods and reels (they have covers also) ride in the back of my pickup, this sure keeps them looking like new for almost nothing. Netguider |
