Default Okeechobee Weather Update (long)

We've had violent thunderstorms and VERY high winds (gusts over 50mph) the last two days with a mild cool front coming through later
today. The skies are expected to clear with cooler temps slowly rising as the weekend approaches. I'll post weather updates
through out the week. Doc

That sounds really nice, you watch how that forecast changes when ROFB shows
up, expect highs in the 40's with freezing rain : )

As long as me and Warren aren't in the same state... the weather should be
all right. I doubt that we'll ever share another boat again! lol

Okeechobee Launch Ramp
This forecast is for
latitude 27.848, longitude -80.592

---cut---

Hi Doc and the group, I got curious how far the ramp you are at is
from my house near Orlando. Tired to input the lat/long above into my
tiny hand held e-trex and had trouble sorting out all the different
formats. The closest match I could find on the e-trex is called
hddd.ddddd. If I use this format I get 67.7 miles SE. This can't be
right unless the lat/long is for the forcast area and not the ramp.
The forcast is for someplace near Melbourne??? What is the closest
city to the ramp?

Thanks, DC

Dale:
For milage to the ramp go to Yahoo Maps and get the milage from your house to the city of Okeechobee. Now add 5 miles and your
at the ramp. I've been there enough that I know it's 75 miles from my driveway to the ramp at Okee-Tanni (sp). Most of this for
me is 60mph road (driven a little faster G) through open ranch land and orange groves. Doc

Hi Doc and the group, that did the trick. I now show 114 miles south
to get to the ramp from near Orlando.

I'm thinking a nice week long vacation is well past due. A few days at
the State Park and then the rest in the lower keys or maybe in
Flamingo sure would be nice :-)

I can't go now because of a very sad reason but when I can I'm out of
here.

Take care, DC
