Very cool shots. But your cicada's are a lot smaller than ours this year -
they looked as big as *bats*.

It ain't so much the size as the attitude. The startling resemblance to
something out of one of the "Aliens" movies that Harry mentioned in one of
his emails may not be entirely coincidental.

Wolfgang
whose discomfiture is not in the least ameliorated by cullen's somewhat
sudden spate odd behavior.......and that "lean and hungry" look.

I could see these *breathing* from a good 6 feet away. I don't know about lean
and hungry, but I found these big breathing buggers a bit unnerving...

Cicada's are a big deal in New Zealand.
The streams there are clean clear and almost barren
(surprisingly few bugs, especially on the west side).

What fish there are tend to big and wary, but always
hungry. They like Cicadas a lot. A foam Cicada
(like a hopper) makes a great strike indicator
(bobber) for a bead head nymph.

I caught my best fish (a fat 25" brown...small by
their standards) on a bead
head, that was trailing below a foam Cicada.
