As the subject line states, I met a new fishing buddy today. I won't be
able to fish with my new buddy for a while though, because she was born
on Friday morning.

The new kid sister of Grandkid #1, Maggie, Abigail Monica, entered this
world at 4:45 a.m. on Friday. It's nice to know she's a morning person
and will be able to get up and go fishing with Grandpa.

Now, I have to get on up to St. Croix and pick up another short Legend
Elite blank, some more Titanium/SIC guides and some pink thread for the
guides. Nothing but the finest for MY grandkids. :-)

That little rod you put together? How expensive is that? I have a 23 month
old, and am a stay at home dad. She tries to use my 7'11" flipping stick,
but it is a little large for her.

Is putting a rod together something a novice could do?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Jeremy,

You really can't go by what I've built for my grandkids, because I'm totally
nuts. I'll probably have a hundred dollars in this little rod! But there
certainly is no reason why it can't be built a whole lot cheaper, it's just
that I have a tendency to go overboard a bit.

It certainly is something that you could do, I mean, if I can do it,
probably anyone can, it's just time consuming to do it properly.
http://www.mudhole.com is a good place to look, they have all the components
you'd need, as well as some pretty good starter information available
online.

Congratulations Steve. I can see that big smile of yours all the way down

I'm sure you can, and it almost hurts smiling that big!

What a wonderful early Christmas present! Congrats to you and Janet, and
to Mom and Dad!

And it wasn't gift wrapped either! I must admit it's one of the better
presents I've gotten. :-)

My pleasure Steve - last year was the first one in awhile where I didn't
have the pleasure of spending some time with you my friend. I certainly
hope we "hook up" again in 2006. Give that great wife & family of yours a
big kiss for me!

I've finally got a little time on my hands. Not by my choice. But the
Doctor's choice works just as well. Congrats on that awesome finish you had
I've read about!.
