Default Key Largo Backcountry Fishing Report

“What’s Bitin” This week: 12-12-05

This week’s fishing report was a little hard. December's moon is changing from half to full.
The North wind’s been blowing 15 to 20 mph but the angler’s I had this week got lucky. We managed to still get our Snook, small but legal size.
On the shorelines of the Cape, Reds are still running in the 6 to 7lb range.
The cool weather is moving in and the Jack Crevalle are getting bigger, up to the 8 & 10lb range as well as the Bluefish.

We caught come nice Bull Sharks , 5 to 6ft. The spotted Sea Trout are everywhere. You can’t help but catch them.

It’s been foggy leaving in the mornings. It was nice to go to my fishing spot and no one was there but me. Thank goodness for Garmin GPS. My angler’s thought I was the best, getting there without being able to see 50 yards in front of us. (“Hey, what can I say…)
When it’s 11 o’clock in the morning before you see another boat and you already have fish aboard, that’s a good thing.
Getting to my fishing spot first was the best.

The full moon makes it hard to fish, because the fish feed at night and don’t want to bite during the day. You just have to figure out how to make them hit.

This coming week I’ll start with Bonefish and Permit using live crab and shrimp.

I hope to have some great pictures next week.

Don't forget, If you haven't figured out that special Christmas gift, give me a call and I'll set you up with a Reelranger Gift Certificate. You can put it under the tree and we'll settle on a date after Christmas.

Until then “Happy Holiday’s” to you and check back for next weeks report.
Feel free to call me on my boat phone (305) 394-0505, anytime.
Capt. Leon
