Default OT Perch Question

Is a 15'' perch considered huge? I saw a guy with a 15 inch perch this
morning, thought at first it was a small walleye, but low and behold it was
a perch, he thought it was kinda big but has said he has caught bigger ones
and didn't think much of it. I was in awe.

A 15" perch would be on my wall. I have a 13 1/2 inch perch mounted now.
I've caught longer ones (not very often), but this had such a nice girth
that I just had to do it. 15" is the largest I've ever caught and my (at
the time) wife wouldn't "allow" a fish on the wall.

Default OT Perch Question

Randy

Here in southern MN, that would be huge. Further N, it
would still be a trophy, and considered a true "jumbo".

I got in to some perch thru the ice this winter that went 10.5" (here
in the southern part of the state) and I thought I hit the jackpot.

Default OT Perch Question

Like I said he seemed like it was no big deal and I'm looking at it like a
state record in amazement, I'm gonna have to go back to this lake after all.
They drained it down to rebuild a dam, the lake seems like it's about 20
feet lower and you can see all the rocks and structure that were there
before, pretty neat as some of the old ice houses are there, I bet they held
some fish when the water was up, I was told there are still a good number of
bass and tiger musky in there but I might be a perch fisherman for a day or
two : ) I saw about a thousand bobbers stuck in the rocks while walking
around, pretty neat. I'll take some pictures next time I'm over there

Default OT Perch Question

Wow I never would have thought...were we fish there's tons of Perch and we
catch lots over 12" but we never really thought people liked to fish Perch
that much. We actually find it annoying because there's so much Perch in
that lake that they eat our worms so fast it doesn't give the Trout a chance
at our bait.

I'd rather eat perch than trout any day.

Default OT Perch Question

You've got me confused now Randy, after the Southern Classic you told
me that you were going to be a "Crappie" fisherman from now on and
that you had a bunch of bass tackle you wanted to get rid of??????
Now it's Perch? Do you still have any of that Bass tackle you were
wanting to sell?????

Heavy
