Catalog cover

I got a catalog from The Fly Shop in Redding, CA
in the mail today. What in the *hell* is that fish
on the cover ? It's huge with brown trout like
markings but a body shape that's more tuna than
trout. Anybody know what that thing is ? And where
do I go to catch one ? ;-)

It's a sea run Brown from Argentina's Patagonia Region.
Probably from the Rio Gallegos, or farther south, the Rio Grande.

of the southern hemisphere ie March-May ?

I believe they start coming into the rivers in late November, early
December. They peak in February, but good fishing can be had until
March. See page 153/154 of the catalog. The lodge is less than $4000
a week, and includes all drinks. Sorry, no Bud-wizzer, but some fine
wine and whisky from what I am told.

I had to cancel this year, but plan on doing it next February. Air
fare is about $1200, and that ain't even business class. d;o(

If you look further in the catalog, pg 157 I believe, they have a picture of
a lodge that bears a striking resemblance to the buildings in the background
of the cover and a description of sea run browns. Something about the Rio
Grande near the Chilean border. They're taking reservations now for 2007.
