Somewhere on the site, I believe I saw something to the effect that they
have something like 10,000 books listed. In the FAQ they explain that
"WSIRN produces recommendations based purely on collective taste: when books
are entered into the same favorites list, they become associated with each
other. The more often particular books appear on different lists, the
stronger that association becomes. Purely and simply, WSIRN represents mass
opinion about books. Over time the recommendations should get better and
better as the database grows. (Note that books by authors you have entered
won't appear in the results - we've assumed that you've thought of reading
those!)"

Evidently no one else has listed Middleton's classic yet. Register and
enter it on your own list. The next guy to look it up will find all of your
favorites. I registered and started entering some of my own. On opening
another window and searching for one of the titles I entered, I got all of
my own list back.....nothing else. I suspect no one else has listed it yet
(it is rather obscure). Eventually, I expect I'd find whatever else has
been entered by others who listed this particular book. Given enough time
and participation, I'd think they would have to refine and limit the results
or return a list of thousands for any search. Should be interesting to see
what happens anyway.

Nor for Island of the Sequined Love Nun. I didn't even try for Lust
Lizard of Melancholy Cove.

Guess I'll have to take my chances on the dart method.

You're scaring me.

The librarian (well, one of them anyway) will be along to have a word with
you shortly.

There's a *VERY* good reason for that!

While the dart method works well, it's not good for the books. Those
among us who do readers' advisory would prefer you keep the darts at
the pub.

That's Claspy's area. I just catalog them. What happens to them
after that is no concern of mine. ;-)

Great books by a hillarious author. I really enjoyed "Lamb." Its
about Jesus' best friend while growing up; "Biff." Kept having to stop
Jesus from killing and resurecting lizards, people would get suspicious
doncha know.
Fluke is also great. Chasing down humpback whales that have grafitti
messages on their tales.

Refreshing to see a cataloger say out loud what everyone knows :-)

Hey, if you haven't seen this one, it's pretty funny:

http://librarianavengers.org/?p=90

I thought of you when I saw question #3:

"I am obsessive enough to appreciate the difference between 345.065 and
345.605."

As for picking what to read next, I've never been disciplined enough to use
anything but the dart. Although I *have* been encouraged by discussions
with other readers, annotated bibliographies that come my way from various
corners of the globe at irregular intervals... hint, hint!

William Claspy, Male Librarian
