I just wanted to share what is a pretty damn good day for me.

Namely, that my son has successfully completed his second and final tour of
Iraq, and is now back in the states.

Here's a link to some pics he took during his first tour:
http://www.agekko.com/iraq/index.cfm?fuseaction=gallery

Where, among other things, he ended up on then ambassador Negreponte's
traveling security detail, seeing many more countries, than just Iraq.

His duties on the second tour involved traveling around the region
transporting terror suspects to a central location.

Just between you and me, I'm proud that he served and did his duty, and
doubly happy he's no longer in that morass.

And hope that soon, sensible people come to power in this country, and no
other parent has to put up with this BS.

Well said, and I am very happy that your particular parental torture at the
hands of those who wanted to "play war" for political and financial gain is
ended. ( where's ****head Bush's flight suit these days? ... AWOL? )

As a person that opposed this war from before it's start, and very actively
resisted Viet Nam, I think one thing can't be said often enough .... we ALL
support and pray for the individuals that serve, we ALL are immensely proud
of them ... this is one truth that was lost in the shuffle over Viet Nam
and I certainly hope it's not lost over Iraq.

THE best support we can give out troops would be some 'sensible people' in
power.

As a person who served on active military duty for four years during the
Vietnam nastiness, I can assure you that ALL of us most certianly did not
support the individuals who serve, don't now, never have, and never will.
Ditto for pride.

As a person who has little personal use for prayer, I can also tell you that
not ALL of us are doing that either.

this is one truth that was lost in the shuffle over Viet Nam and I
certainly hope it's not lost over Iraq.

As you've demonstrated all too often, you've got some pretty strange notions
about truth.

THE best support we can give out troops would be some 'sensible people' in
power.

Assholes get elected because stupid people are allowed to vote.

People that form their beliefs based on the last commercial they saw.

it's why you have to buy your way into office in this country.

Nope. Assholes get elected cuz asshole get to vote. Retards distribute
themselves evenly across the political spectrum as a whole as well as
individual issues......hey, they're retards......right?

Assholes get elected cuz assholes get to vote. THAT'S why you have to buy
your way into office in this country......and most others as well.

Well, I stand corrected .... "all" and "never" certainly are words that tend
to "always" be wrong and "never" correct .... most, clearly not all, people
( in MY limited, personal, only me judgment ) understand that, and let them
slide by in conversation as exaggerations, as opposed to outright failures
of logic.

FWIW, I'm not religous and don't pray in any traditional sense either, and
used the word ( clearly poorly ) to suggest an attitude of concern.

"Assholes get elected cuz assholes get to vote."

A couple years ago, we found Mel Brook's "Spaceballs" in a bargain bin and
bought it. We have watched it a couple times since then and I always get a
big laugh, especially as the character Black Helmet could have been crafted
as a portrait of the dread Lord Wolfgang of ROFF.

I especially think of you in the scene where he's playing with his dolls,
"Take that! and you take that, too." ... it's always ( for me, personally,
thus far, ;-) very amusing. This post brings the "I knew it, I'm
surrounded by assholes." scene to mind ... thanks for the chuckle

A failure of logic presupposes that logic was used. All you did was make
yet another stupid categorical statement. See the difference?

FWIW, I'm not religous and don't pray in any traditional sense either, and
used the word ( clearly poorly ) to suggest an attitude of concern.

Well, that's clear now. I mean, the fact that you used the reference to
prayer poorly. I don't suppose it has ever occurred to you that if you used
words less poorly.....which is to say, if you thought about them
first.....you might have a lot less trouble with that world full of assholes
who beset you at every turn.

See what I mean? You don't believe it.......why should anyone else?

And it STILL doesn't occur to you that the vast majority of what you post
here is simply a paraphrase of that line? You're dumber than even I have
given you credit for. I will rectify that.

Partisan politics aside, I'm happy for you & glad your son made it back
alive & in one piece. Whatever the stupidity and incompetence of their
leaders, those who serve do so IMHO for the best of reasons and intentions,
and your son deserves our thanks.
