I took three carp in an hour this morning, not bad for an old man with a 6
foot ultralight rod. (Lucky the big ones were all having a party below the dam) http://home.comcast.net/~thuxton/gonefishin02.htm Below the dam were thousands of 20/ 30 pounders, all showing their fins in the shallow water. I didn't have my doubler lens, so I couldn't get a really close shot. Imagine the dam wall is 250 feet across, and the carp were lined up across the entire width of the dam. The shots below are of the same spot, nearest me. They were actually coming half out of the water at times, but I couldn't catch them, even after shooting a floppy full. It reminds me of the Salmon below Foote Dam in September. SIGH A couple of boys came by about 7am. They were waiting for mom to go to work, so they could grab their rods. (School ends Friday) They were giving me some expert angling tips. They use instant oatmeal and worms. (I use frozen corn) By the time I had packed up and walked below the dam, they were back. I'm sure we'll spend a lot of time together this summer. They won't end up in trouble like city kids on the streets. Pepperoni |
