Danl called me tonight and wanted me to pass along some news. He
arrived and is camping at Beaver Creek and suggests that all other
campers do so as well. He said the campground was pretty full but that
there were a couple available sites. The biggest problem was that
there are several large families there and judging from the size of
fire wood piles it looks like they are going to be there for a long
time. His major gripe seemed to be the number of young kids running
around the campground screaming and yelling. He found a nice camp site
about two miles down Beaver Creek on the left side of the road and
really digs the site.

In terms of fishing, he said he caught a couple today on mainly caddis
stuff. The salmonflies are around the West Fork area and moving up
stream at a steady pace. He did see two around Raynolds so it looks
like they will probably be up in that neck of the woods in the next
couple of days. I am going out Saturday, coming back Sunday evening
and then coming back on Wednesday. I will be meeting Danl between
10-11 am at his campsite on Saturday. If anybody else is in the area,
you can hook up with us there or somewhere around Raynolds or Three
Dollar Bridge most likely. We will be using channel 11 on the walkie
talkies in case you miss us there.

BTW, Danl said the biting bugs are out in force so bring plenty of
repellent. Kelly was out at the Slide Inn last time I was there and
said that last year he bought four cases and sold only a handful of
bottles. He sold three and a half cases in a couple of weeks this
year.

We'll be in later on Saturday, most likely fishing between Raynold's and The
Slide Inn.

Thanks for the tip on bug spray, Will bring the arsenal. I'll bring a radio
and check channel 11, but if we don't cross paths on the stream, we'll end
up at the Slide by dark at the latest.

See you tomorrow!

Mike

I was looking forward to it, but things are getting too complicated
schedule-wise and I'll have to miss it. I hate it but.... that's about a
thousand more fish for y'all to catch ;-) Have fun and see ya next year I
hope.

Yeah, life has intervened over here too, so no delivery of Oregon beer
this year......

All ya'll have fun now and post lots of pics when you get home.

And pay heed to Bruce's advice of a couple of days ago. I spent much of
the last MT clave looking at him on the other side of the Madison,
hooked to one leviathan after another....

Hey Warren, wish I could get that way this year. Perhaps next year with a
bunch more time on my hands.

Drop a dime if you get this way.

"next year" never arrives...and, soon, too soon, you'll discover there
are an abundance of "last years".

i'd hoped to fish a bit with you "this year". perhaps in october?
trust all is well with bene and child.

all packed and ready to go in a few hours. been reading howell raines'
new book "the one that got away"... and it's got me in the mood. i
promise i'll sample only my fair share of your thousand...

They are well and thanks for asking. Actually you're right, and I plan to
meet before "next year".

JR, You're just the nicest guy.

Last year, I'd go fishless for hours and then I'd see someone I knew
and wham, fish on! It never usually works that way (G).
