Love it. A few years ago, I tried the basic T3 and T4 on, but with the way my bean sweats, there was no way I could wear this and be comfortable. The Airflo solves the problem, while still keeping the sun off of my formerly hair-covered head. Dan |

I've had a Tilley T3 for many years now but the color Tilley calls "natural" is actually white and the last thing I want to wear while trying to be stealthy is a white hat, so I use it only while paddling or fishing from the canoe, never while stream fishing. On the stream I wear a baseball cap. Or rather I used to wear a baseball cap. Frank's post has generated two Tilley hat orders, mine is the TH4 Hemp in Mocha. I wonder if Tilley will pay Frank a commission ? ;-) I have a Tilley but don't wear it whilst fishing as the brim droops when I put on the mag-eyes magnifiers. I wrote to Tilley about this. Maybe we could get a letter writing campaign to have them make an "old fogey fly fisherman's special." Frank Reid Put the mag-eyes on the back brim and that problem pretty much becomes a non-problem. All this time I thought you were trying to start a fire on your back. -- TL, Tim ------------------------- http://css.sbcma.com/timj |

But this would leave you facing the wrong way in the stream and, worse yet for the task at hand, the fly/tippet/whatever it was you needed the mag-eyes for in the first place would then be behind you......and you're effectively right back where you started. ![]() yfitons wayno(especially effective for those times that you can't shake the feeling that you are being followed...) Hopefully, it will get all of the cancerous and pre-cancerous cells. Hopefully. Wear a broad brimmed hat, SPF 300 cream (multi spectral), sun gloves, long sleeved shirts. Get checked by your dermatologist annually. Be mindful when you go outside before your only view of outside is through a hospital window. Frank Reid Cripes Frank, I learn more about illness and how the body heals hanging around with you than anyone I know! Good luck. Been meaning to drop you aline anyway. Allen |

Hope you heal up ahead of schedule. while a Tilley maybe isn't a greta fishing hat there are tons of good ones out there. My Filson Packer is good until the temps top 75 or so and then I use a broad brimmed generic sun hat. Cost me a grand total of $12 at the local Gander Mountain. g.c. |

![]() "Frank Reid" wrote in message ps.com... Best of luck going forward Frank... A good friend of mine that lives on the lake went through this same treatment late spring of this year... He came out of it okay. It looked extremely painful, hang in there! Well, I can say without reservation that it is painful. Nice sheets and pillow cases feel like 60 grit sandpaper. You roll over in your sleep and wake up. Not getting much sleep. The only thing that you want touching your face is lukewarm water. The blotches are now progressing to the open wound stage. I am not supposed to go outside without sunblock and a broad-brimmed hat. This goes for driving too. I'll give all the gross details as a warning. I know, it wasn't just my fly fishing that caused this. I grew up on the California beaches, so have been out in the bright sun unprotected for years. I'm also fair skinned. If getting a warning now saves one person from this misery, then its worth it. Then again, I can now audition for a part in some of my daughter's favorite scary movies. Frank Reid I do not remember it being that painful, but my treatment was mostly the forehead area. Also was 4 years ago, so the painful memories may have subsided. I do get a checkup several times a year, as I do get BC carcinomas. |

I learned years ago that a broad brimmed hat, good sunglasses (preferably with side shields ) and long sleeves were essential if one is going to spend as much time outside, and especially near water, as a retriever trainer/duck hunter/fly fisher does. Your advice should not be taken lightly, over time too much sun is very nasty for the skin and eyes. You take care of yourself, mister. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |
